Shohei Imamura

I got this book from the library and actually liked it, despite bad reviews on amazon. Shohei Imamura (Cinematheque Ontario Monographs) [Paperback] edited by James Quandt:

The book is a collection of articles - some of them translated from French - about Shohei Imamura's style, themes, career, etc. It was very informative since it was my first source of getting acquainted with this great director. I loved The Ballad of Narayama (1983), Black Rain (1989), The Insect Woman (1963), Pigs and Battleships (1961) and will surely watch the rest of his films.
