Plan 9 from Outer Space - the worst movie ever made

More and more i realize that I am not interested in mainstream cinema: i haven't seen Avatar, Alice by Burton and pretty much all other new Hollywood movies. I missed the whole 3D thing. Marginal cinema looks much more apealling. This made me research into Japanese pink eiga of 60-70's, into B- and Z-movies, Troma, experimental and avant garde cinema from 20-30's on and old rarely seen Russian movies with strong socialist/patriotic agenda.

I must admit i love patriotic movies especially those glorifying working class and honest proud individuals. Plan 9, besides all other aspects that have been criticed and admired number of times, is deeply patriotic. I was in a good way entertained by the characters of the inspector, pilot, colonel, army general and such holding pathetic, flaming speeches.

For the very same reason i love all movies from the Godzilla series with all their patriotism, didacticism and cultural references. In many j-horror movies the plight is initiated by desecrated altars, unjust treatment and wrongly offended souls. I will elaborate on it later.

This is one of the cutest Z-movies from 1959. After having been reviewed as the "worst film ever made" and referensed in popular culture for 50+ years, it became cult. The great cast includes Bela Lugosi and Maila Nurmi.

What do they want? Where're they from? Where're they going?
