My favorite memorable Japanese movies about family

Tokyo Sonata (2008) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa
The film tells a story of a middle class family going through struggle after the only working person - husband and father of two - looses his job. At first he pretends that nothing happened and leaves for work every day until the truth surfaces.

Face/Kao (2000) by Junji Sakamoto
Plump and clumsy Masako is trying to reclaim little fun into her life. Funny, sad and electrifying story..

Hômuresu chûgakusei/The Homeless Student (2008) by Tomoyuki Furumaya
A tearful story of a teenage guy and his brother and sister whose mother died, father abandoned them after being evicted from their home.

Nobody Knows (2004) by Hirokazu Koreeda
Kids are left on their own...
